1Swimmers

Music and lyrics: K.Thacker / C. Breiland

Drown those devils in your head
Its something that my buddy said
Its true
Oh yeah it’s true
The smoke and fire we display
On all the crossings that we make
Its true
Oh yeah it’s true
That we may be lost and found
But when ever my brothers round
He’s the company i choose to keep

Chorus
Cause we’re
Swimmers in the ocean
Swimmers heading for land
Swimmers treading water
We just don’t understand
He said brother keep your head up
He said Brother keep up your chin up
He said Brother keep your back up
Or ill be swimming alone…

Something bout to rise and fall
Conversations about it all
Will end
With the Possibility
That we don’t know wit
And we don’t know why
We never will
But we’ll always try
To throw
The other fella a line

Chorus

Wander where you will my friend
Capture what you can
Cause the minutes gone
Like a glass of beer
I will wander where you roam
Cause the
Streets are filled with all the bones
of men
Who tried to make it alone.

Chorus
Cause we’re
Swimmers in the ocean
Swimmers heading for land
Swimmers treading water
We just don’t understand
He said brother keep your head up
He said Brother keep up your chin up
He said Brother keep your back up
Or ill be swimming alone…

2Sultana

Music and lyrics: K.Thacker

Here I sit by the Lake of the Woods
Sun shinning down on me
Cast a line by the waters edge
On the Bank of a northern stream
Morning light as it breaks the ridge
Summer sun rises in the east
A Mystery in the space out there
Brings the world to day

Wind may come. Cold may slay
Clouds may hide the blue
in the end I know,
I’m waiting to get to you

Chorus
Sultana you wait for me
Sultana you call to me
The secretes that you keep,
The stories that you hold
Are mine so deep
Sultana gold

Now I know it’s getting late
Sirens call will have to wait
The treasures that I want
Are down on Second Street
Put away, those ancient ghosts
Have a drink, have a toast
Take us to the closing time
In this place that we call home

Sultana... Deep in the heart of the Lake of the Woods
Sultana... Deep in the heart of the green belt quarts
The secretes that you keep, the stories that you hold
Are mine to drink
Sultana gold
Here I sit by the Lake of the Woods
Sun going down on me
Amber gold at the close of day
Take me where I want to be
Then The Hum that comes from deep inside
Giants sleep and silence hides
Marking time for something real
To echo in me there

Chorus
Sultana you wait for me
Sultana you call to me
The secrets that you keep,
The stories that you hold
Are mined so deep
Sultana Gold
Sultana... Deep in the heart of the Lake of the Woods
Sultana... Deep in the heart of the green belt quarts
The secretes that you keep, the stories that you hold are mine to drink
Sultana gold
Are mine so deep
Sultana gold
Are mine to drink
Sultana Gold

3Fish No More

Music and lyrics: B.Campbell

Well the doctors told me I’d fish no more
I’d keep my boots on St Mary’s shore
I can’t stand to watch the boats pull away
As they ‘round North Point to fish in St Mary’s Bay

Nobody knew those waters like me
In cold and rough and rolling sea
Navigate by compass, watch and RPM
To Lurcher Shoal and back again
Away... Away...
Away... Away...

Hand lining cod, when the others would trawl
In my secret spots...I’d best them all
They’d try to follow, but I had more speed
In my Cape Island boat the Virginia C.

18 hooks, 60 fathoms down
Where every cod ran 50 pounds
All I could do, to pull them hand over hand
It was good fishing life for a good fisherman
Away... Away...
Away... Away...

Goddamn my bad heart
Goddamn these cigarettes
I’m too young to be too old to be pulling my nets
Yet here I stand with my hand on the rail
Of my boat that’s tied up, and up for sale
So I’ll turn my back on this life I’ve known
I’ll drive my old truck around the cove
Have a drink with the old timers and mind the day
When we were fishing St Mary’s Bay
Away... Away...
Away... Away...
Away... Away...
Away... Away...

Well the doctors told me that I’d fish no more
I’d keep my boots on St Mary’s shore
I can’t stand to watch the boats pull away
I’ll fish no more in St Mary’s Bay

4Time and Place

Music and lyrics: K.Thacker

I’m telling you
Something to remember
Must have something left to say
Because these walls stood for a long time
Doesn’t mean they’ll stay that way

All the clouds and distant thunder
Gather just outside the storm
Gone now all reminders
From the labors of before

Dirty little town edge of know where
Railway marine started there
Calling to a higher nature
To Which the Human flesh is heir

Chorus
Time and place
Should have seen it coming
Time and place
Where did you fly
Time replaced
Your bricks and mortar
Never stopped to say goodbye

Hey did you hear they brought down the General
Did you hear they took it all away
Time and place
Something to remember
Lets lay a stone at the edge of the lake

Wounded solider, mother tender
What was lost was left behind
Phantoms moving down those hallways in the
In the corners of my mind

Chorus
Time and place
We should have seen it coming
Time and place
Where did you fly
Time replaced
Your bricks and mortar
Never stopped to say goodbye

Little babies in the nursery
Nurses starched
The old men call
I was there saw it moving
When the hammers made fall

Chorus
Time and place
We should have seen it coming
Time and place
Where did you fly
Time replaced
Your bricks and mortar
Never stopped to say goodbye

Hey did you hear they knocked down the general
Did you hear they took it all away
Time and place
Something to remember
Lets lay a stone at the edge of the lake

545 Degrees

Music and lyrics: K.Thacker / R.Nickerson

Rain was here today
Lakeside Sask Pool B
I used to live there once
Now its smaller than it used to be

Diving in with seagulls
Outside of town
If the weather holds up today
We’re both gonna drown

Chorus
I’m on a 45-degree angle
To the angle of her skin
I’m on a 45-degree angle
I don’t know where I’ve been
A touch will take your soul
And you won’t understand
You’re On a 45 degree angle
Now you’re lost in never land

Fog is in my mind
Whiskeys going down
In the darkness as I drink it
When no one is around

In the darkness as
It drinks me
It’ll burn
It’ll burn
it’ll burn
it’ll burn
it’ll burn
as it goes down

Chorus
She’ll be back again
We’ll be back again
Riding down the steeps
She will lead me there
She will pull me there on the
Canvas of her limbs
Waiting for the tide
Land on water swell
But you just cant
Hear the sound
Of a heart that’s like shell

Chorus
You’re on a 45-degree angle
To the angle of her skin
On a 45 degree angle
You don’t know where you’ve been
A touch will take your soul
And you wont understand
You’re On a 45 degree angle
Now you’re lost in never land
Lost in never land
Oh never land

6Gold Digger

Music and lyrics: B.Campbell

End of the road... mining town
spend my life in the underground
And there’s no golden road in front of me
Just Selling my soul... workin’ for the company

She’s a real gold digger who’s made a find
but I’m a gold digger of another kind
And I’m the claim that she’s been working on
Gotta get a piece of me... before the gold’s all gone

She’s somebody’s no-one if anyone asks
trapped in the rocks... deep in the cracks
She’s a hard livin’ woman and not the finer kind
and she’s as hard as the rocks... in the deep dark mine

Who you are is all you’re ever gonna be
can’t change her and you won’t change me
But it’s a pointless point when there’s no light to see
Way down in the mine... diggin’ for the company

She’s a black cat in a blacker room
Who crossed my path in this mining boom
Somebody’s no one if it matters at all
Trapped in her town...’til gold prices fall

Gold price is down at the end of the road
Not the end of the world... Just a chance to reload
So I’m moving on... leaving her behind
Without the golden ring that she had in mind
But that gold diggin’ woman will claim another find
And pull another boy into the deep dark mine

7Getaway

Music and lyrics: K.Thacker / R. Nickerson

Nighttime In the northern kingdom many miles away Cold bones of the season got lost along the way  Sitting in a place where the sun it always shines
I think I found my freedom you think I’ve lost my mind
But Ill send a little postcard and one-way ticket fair
Pack you bags right now girl get away from there
Don’t think about tomorrow
We’ve only got today
Cause in this perfect moment
The world will slip away

Chorus
Everybody’s looking
For a reason
Everybody’s waiting for the break of day
Everybody’s hoping for
Everybody’s praying for
Oh… some thing that’s far way
Everybody’s looking
For the feel good
Everybody’s running from some, blinding pain
Me I’m heading for
Me I’m a going for
Oh… to make my getaway
With you

Then something passes over, something made me say  I’m up and leaving, on a last minute plane
And I know you won’t be happy, till you’re out there in the sun
And I know you won’t be sad, when we’re out there
on the run

Chorus

Its a cold, cold season that brought me to this place
I think I lost my reason somewhere on the way
But in this perfect moment as the world slips away
Ill be dreaming with you girl on a perfect. Perfect day

Chorus
Everybody’s looking
For a reason
Everybody’s waiting for the break of day
Everybody’s hoping for
Everybody’s praying for
Oh… some thing that’s far way
Everybody’s looking
For the feel good
Everybody’s running from some, blinding pain
Me I’m heading for
Me I’m a going for
Oh… to make my getaway
With you

8Projection

Music and lyrics: K.Thacker / D.Kerr

I look at you
You look at me
The pictures that we paint
The things that we see
In my mind I go
Like Falling from a dream
Face that I care
Face that I see
Mirror of my heart
Refection of my soul
All that I have
You’re all I need to know
Is this the meaning that I want
When I cannot find a way to be
with you

Chorus
All that I am
All that I feel
Projection is it true
Projection is it real
This is the meaning that I want
When I cannot find a way to be
with you

Light that shines on me
Light that shines on you
It’s the fuel for the fire
In this heart that yearns to be
Someone you could know
Something you could love
Held in your arms
Tossed in your sea
Mirror of my heart
Reflection of my soul
Something has to burn
On the edge of what we know
Is this the love that I want
When I cannot find a way to be with you

Chorus
All that I am
All that I feel
Projection is it true
Projection is it real
This Is the love that  I want
When I cannot find a way to be
with you

Give me your mouth
Give me your skin
Touch you for real
Scratch the ground your in
Give me your arms
Give me your hand
Give me somehow to hold on to
So there can be no doubt
This is the love that I want
When I cannot find a way to be with you

Chorus
All that I am
All that I feel
Projection is it true
Projection is it real
Is this the meaning that I want
When I cannot find a way to be
with you
Is this the love that I want
When I cannot find a way to be
with you

9Graveyard Hill

Music and lyrics: K.Thacker

Well its down in the water where your thoughts
don’t go
You’ll pass that way again
It’s deep and cold in the rocks below
You’ll pass that way again
Cause your on your way to…

What happened there on graveyard hill
With gun and fear and fight
He was just sixteen it was all he knew
Didn’t know the wrong from right
So he took his daddies gun and he shot a bird
In the morning light
Took his mommas tears and he shot a man
Just before daylight

Chorus
He was on his way to…
Graveyard hill
Graveyard hill
Rolling through my mind I can see it still
Only in my dreams
But I know its real
Down on Graveyard hill

Though about the ways we could make it right
Send that boy to jail
Talk about the ways we could ease our pain
Send that boy to hell
But I was walking through my dreams just the
other night
Just this side of day
Saw what I could do in the clear daylight
Ill think I’ll go and pray about

Chorus
Say what you gonna do when then the shadow comes
You ain’t gonna run no more
You better face up to the facts now boy
You cannot shut the door
Cause the guy you see
Way over there
Is just the guy you fear
Take a look now, take a look
Straight into the mirror.
Cause you on you way to...

Well its down in the water where your
thoughts don’t go
You’ll pass that way again
It’s deep and cold in the rocks below
You’ll pass that way again

Chorus
Cause your on you way to...
Graveyard hill
Graveyard hill
Rolling through my mind I can see it still
Only in my dreams
But I know its real
Down on Graveyard hill

10Play Me a Tune

Music and lyrics: K.Thacker / C. Breiland

Can I play you tune
Make it one that will last
Can I Play you a tune from my book
It’s your story I’m told
And I just want to hold your heart with
me just for a while
Just for a while

Got to get back
Got to get back
Start all over again
Got to get back
Words I’ve been meaning to say
Back to this place
Back here on the ground
Down this road before
Looking for the sound,
of your voice

Makin’ my way
Makin’ my way
Through your door
Makin’ my way to the truth
I knew it once before
Honestly… must have lost my way
On the Maps you used show me
Lines that will trace
a way to your heart

Chorus
So Ill play you tune
Make it one that will last
Ill Play you a tune from my book
Its your story  I’ve  told
And I just want to hold your heart with
me just for a while
Just for a while

Got to get up
Got to get up
Get out of bed
Its been a long night and things were left unsaid
Got to make it right.
Got to put this story down
Some were on the way
Get back to the town
Where you live

Things Id like to say
Things I wish I knew come back here hoping
To give it back to you
Walking your way
Footsteps on this stage
Try to find the pattern
but  it always seems to change

Chorus
So I’ll play you tune
Make it one that will last
Ill Play you a tune from my book
It’s your story I’m told
And I just want to hold
Your heart with me just for a while
Oh Just for a while

1PlayThe Crow

Written by: K Thacker

A crow was in the watch; we caged her way up high
On a dark eye dead horizon with just no land in site
In the calmness of the water her third eye deep can glean
Where serpents rise and mermaids cry on this Sargasso Sea

The gypsy was a cutter with tales of better times
With a cargo full of broken bones from some unspoken crime
The storm that took her out to sea, was justice preordained
And the men took her off her lead were on a fools parade

Chorus
Cause you’re the gypsy cutter, you take us far from home
Gave you everything I had and now I’m all alone
Is there’s something you can say to me, something to believe
Cause I’m a man who lost his way on this Sargasso Sea

Say Brother do you hear it, just outside the storm
Some thing opened up out there took us all down whole
In the quite of the paling the watcher way up high
Let out a wailing sadly, just like babies cry

And later still the moon came out, the air was deadly still
An eerie glow stood underneath and devils hair did grow
And the only thing I know for sure as I’m sitting in this grave
After twenty week of praying no one else was saved

Chorus
Cause you’re the gypsy cutter, you take us far from home
Gave you everything I had and now I’m all alone
Is there’s something you can say to me, something to believe
Cause I’m a man who lost his way on this Sargasso Sea

It’s in the nighttime when I wake I find my self-alone
The hours are too long my god this ship is not my home
And the damndest thing about this mess the queerest thing for sure
The crow that was my prisoner is now my only prayer

A crow was in watch we caged her way up high
On a dark Eye dead horizon with just no land in site
In the calmness of the water his third eye deep can glean
Where serpents rise and mermaids cry on this Sargasso Sea
In stillness of the water I set the black bird free
Where serpent rise and mermaids cry on this Sargasso Sea

2PlayHalifax (On a Friday Night)

Written by: K Thacker /B Campbell

Well it’s Halifax on a Friday night
I don’t remember when
And I know I played the fool
But Id do it all again
So I guess I should explain
We should be home in bed
But the sea blows off the ocean
And the music fills our heads

So come
Have a drink with me
Ill Take you all around
This city by the sea

Chorus
Cause Its Halifax on a Friday night
Raise a glass or two
Lets get it on the go now
Before this night is through
So I guess I should explain
We should be home in bed
But the sea blows off the ocean
And the music fills our heads

We’ll split the Crow at Grandville
We’ll walk the Lower Deck
We’ll wander down Brunswick way
With the music in our heads
We’ll hear some tunes at Sackville
Take a walk along the Quay
We’ll have a pint at Pitchman’s Pub
Till nighttime turns to day

And we’ll stay,
Take a toast together
All your friend’s are waiting
Never mind the weather

Chorus
Cause Its Halifax on a Friday night
Raise a glass or two
Lets get it on the go now
Before this night is through
So I guess I should explain
We should be home in bed
But the sea blows off the ocean
And the music fills our heads

We’ll ring the Old Triangle
We’ll party on The Hill
We’ll shine the Dome in morning
We’ll rock The Citadel
We’ll spring the Garden Road
Blow Lord Nelsons horn
We’ll have a pint at the Thirsty Duck
Till the pub-crawl turns to morn

And its
Home, home is were you’ll find us
All your friends are waiting
Share a glass of beer

Chorus
Cause Its Halifax on a Friday night
Raise a glass or two
Lets get it on the go now
Before this night is through
and I guess I should explain
We should be home in bed
But the sea blows off the ocean
And the music fills our heads
So I guess I should explain
We should be home in bed
But the sea blows off the ocean
And the music fills our heads

3PlayNorthern Highway

Written by: K. Thacker

Don't tell me I'm going crazy
I'll take another turn at the wheel
Lines on the road are getting hazy
It's the only thing that's real
Heading down that northern highway
I don't have the money, I don't have the time
Break her loose, cause got no say now
Run her to the bottom line

Chorus
I'm going down that northern highway
I'm going back where I came from
Hey rest assured I'm going my way
I'm going home when the day is done

Heading down that one lane highway
I've been this way before,
White lines are running
There's No way of telling
How far Ill go before
Break her loose on a northern highway
Think I might be losing my mind
Cause the trees on the way are just an illusion
There's nothing on the other side

Chorus
I'm going down that northern highway
I'm going back where I came from
Hey rest assured I'm going my way
I'm going home when the day is done

Getting scared on a late night passage
Think I might be losing my nerve
Keep her steady all the way through Red Rock
Round the big ice curve
Ran her sideways outside of Schreiber
Can't find a phone, cant find a friend
All used up, just no way
This here jobs, just a dead end

Chorus
I'm going down that northern highway
I'm going back where I came from
Hey rest assured I'm going my way
I'm going home when the day is done

4PlayFly Away

Riding out on hayfields
Dust was rising
The air was clear
Pick up truck on a flat horizon
Something's blown away

Searching for my story
Up the road and back in time
Something there my uncle showed me
Left there in the ground
Took me back but I can't see
Where the farmhouse used to be
Where it's gone I do not know
Something's blown away

Chorus
And He said
Goodbye
Fly fly away from here
Fare thee well
To Walking in these dreams
Goodbye
To All the things he left behind
I'm sorry for my leaving
I wanted you know
I'm sorry for my leaving
But he wanted me to go

Making pictures in my mind
What he might have left behind
Colors that he painted there
Are moving through my life
Heavy sledge, icy road
Horse and cutter deep in snow
But where the farm house use to be
Foundations rest on memories...

Chorus
Goodbye
Fly fly away from here
Fare thee well
To Walking in these dreams
Goodbye
To all the things he left behind
I'm sorry for my leaving
I wanted you know
I'm sorry for my leaving
But he wanted me to go

Well the sheds are gone
Plows are rust
Thrashings through
The crops are dust
Where a swing hung from a tree
Weeds and holes and the cows run free....

Chorus
Goodbye
Fly fly away from here
Fare thee well to
Walking in these dreams
Goodbye
Fly fly away from here
Fare thee well to
To walking in these dreams
Goodbye
To all the things he left behind
I'm Sorry for leaving
I wanted you know
I'm sorry for my leaving
But he wanted me to go
I'm sorry for my leaving
But he wanted me to go

And he said fly fly away
And he said fly fly away
And he said fly fly away

5PlayWhiskey Runners

Written by: K Thacker

A fog is on the docks on the outskirts of town
And the whiskey boats are coming when know one is around
They run form Miquelon and sometimes St. Pierre
But you'll never see them coming cause they're never really there

They ride the waves in darkness, ghosts of eastern shores
Six miles off Newfoundland, just south of Labrador
The Basques will call them Islay; the French will call them home
But Irish boys from Talamh an Eisc will marry to the bone

Made in the Maritimes, grown up on western wars
Brought back to Terra Nova to rot upon these shores
But there is no fight and we must be free
Cause the devil distills the spirit of the men who run to sea

Chorus
And its row boy's row...on the back of a northern swell
Well the whiskey boats are coming and were gonna give 'em hell
And its row boy's row ...we will be what we will be
Cause the devil distills the spirit of the men who run to sea

When prohibition came the whiskey came on to
Privateers and fishing men a rugged ragged crew
Brought it in to Lunenburg and south of Peggy's Cove
Around the Hawk for cover but know one really knows
Then down the coast to Boston with bootleg up to sell
Well the whiskey runners coming and their gonna give us hell

Chorus
And its row boy's row...on the back of a northern swell
Well the whiskey boats are coming and were gonna give 'em hell
And its row boy's row ...we will be what we will be
Cause the devil distills the spirit of the men who run to sea

We brought the liquid cure we brought it all the way
To feed the temperance thirst of coastal USA
The Real McCoy for sale, and drank it with them there
No tale of tears to tell, no meaningless despair
Now look out there beyond the mist, just out side the swell
The whiskey boats coming, with fire'n water to sell

Chorus
And its row boy's row...on the back of a northern swell
Well the whiskey boats are coming and were gonna give 'em hell
And its row boy's row ...we will be what we will be
Cause the devil distills the spirit of the men who run to sea

A fog is on the docks on the outskirts of town
And the whiskey boats are coming when know one is around...

7PlayTurning of The Screw

Written by: K. Thacker/D Kerr

Time of great adventure
Tale of an arctic quest
Turning of the season
End of the sailing ship
Captain and companion
Man who lead them all
On a promise he would bring 'em back
From the heart of the southern pole

But He didn't give a damn for the glory
Lets raise a glass this time
Saved us all from misery
When he left the scotch behind

Nimrods wings would carry
Sea birds eye the mast
Pushing skin and Bones too tight
The ice would hold them fast
Across this fiery ocean
Wild wind deep and clear
On a promise he would bring 'em back
By God he'd get them there

But He didn't give a damn for the glory
Lets raise a glass this time
Saved us all from misery
When he left the scotch behind

On a polar run
In a race with time
In a Howling storm,
Pray the Ship would come
On an angry tide
Where the wild wind clear
On the turning of the season
By the turning of the screw

Frozen on the daybreak
Outward bound were sent
Landing made for courage
Fifty day decent
Ponies lashed with leather
Men would feel the pain
On a promise he would bring 'em back
By God you'd know his name

But he didn't give a damn for the glory
Lets rise a glass this time
Saved us all from misery
When he left the scotch behind

Hundred miles from Glory
Race for the southern clime
Brotherhood and legend
Left no man behind
Hundred miles from Glory
Running short of time
On a promise he would bring 'em back
He saved their bloody hides

But he didn't give a damn for the glory
Lets raise a glass this time
He saved us all from misery
When he left the scotch behind

On a polar run
In a race with time
In a Howling storm
Pray the ship would come
On an angry tide
Where the wild wind clear
On the turning of the season
By the turning of the screw

Here we are together
Heart and hearth beside
Would we all remember
The turning of the tide
Lets raise a glass to honor
This precious scotch beside
And a promise would bring 'em back
He left no man behind

But he didn't give a damn for the glory
Lets raise a glass this time
Saved us all from misery
When he left the scotch behind

On a polar run
In a race with time
In a Howling storm
Where the ship would come
On an angry tide
Where the wild wind clear
On the turning of the season
By the turning of the screw

8PlayDaylight Saving Time

Written by: K Thacker

Well I'm sitting in this pub, in a grey old town
Pretending not to notice, the bars closed down
I Got half a pack a cigarettes
Half a glass of beer
I don't know what it takes; will get me out of here

Well the truck is running low, in its spot out side
The weathers coming down, in a winter tide
I Guess I have to leave
Only want to stay
Then I noticed something, put a smile on my face (it was)

Chorus
Daylight saving time
I hardly stopped to notice
Thought I lose my mind
Daylight saving time
Another hour lost, hour left behind

Well there's something very strange, in this little place
An hour on the clock that was lost in space
I got a funny feeling
Gave a little cheer
Got another hour before, they kick me out of here (because its)

Chorus
Daylight saving time
I hardly stopped to notice
Thought I lose my mind
Daylight saving time
Another hour lost, hour left behind

Well the clock upon the wall
Goes back an hour in the fall
And the reason that its here
Isn't all together clear
Well the clock upon the wall
Goes back an hour in the fall
And the reason that we're here
Isn't all together clear...(because its)

Chorus
Daylight saving time
I hardly stopped to notice
Thought I lose my mind
Daylight saving time
Another hour lost, hour left behind

Daylight saving time
Hardly stopped to notice
Thought I'd lose my mind
Daylight saving time
Another hour lost, hour left behind
It was daylight saving time
Hardly stopped to notice
Thought I'd loose my mind
Daylight saving time
Another hour lost, hour left behind
I Found another hour that was left behind

9PlayLake Superior Railway

Written by: B Campbell

Rock cut railway.... rollin' freight
Too big to stop and too fast to wait
Eighty tons of diesel blastin' along the lake
Leaving ghost towns and history in its wake

Brakes are screaming....box cars sway
Long hard climb on a long steep way
On two steel rails snaking into the sun
Two steel rails that made our country one

Chorus
Port Coldwell, Peninsula, Jackfish and Neys
Nothing but a blur in these modern days
Lake Superior Railway reminding me
Of those railroad men who built this country

Containers tankers flat cars and noise
On the twin steel rails laid by the navvy boys
Smokin' locomotive, the whistle it wails
Oh it sounds through the canyons.......And across the trails

Chorus
Port Coldwell, Peninsula, Jackfish and Neys
Nothing but a blur in these modern days
Lake Superior Railway reminding me
Of those railroad men who built this country

The trains they fade like a slow par
They won't be back again
Rails will rust, the ties turn to dust
Say goodbye to railway men

I can see the trains from the beach at Neys
They wake me at night and they mark my days
But the trucks are just as loud out on Seventeen
Just in time delivery....Killed the railway dream

Chorus
Port Coldwell, Peninsula, Jackfish and Neys
Nothing but a blur in these modern days
Lake Superior Railway reminding me
Of those railroad men who built this country

10PlayThe Great Divide

Written by: K Thacker

Head out
Where the tall grass lies
The People move
The bottomless skies
Freedom
Like the water flows
The Foothill springs, the ocean rolls
Oh oh the water flows across this great divide

Glacier moves
In Icy pools
Down East and Western sides
Welcomes
The wanderer's there
Across this great divide
Oh ho the water flows across this great divide
Oh oh the water flows across this great divide

Chorus
This country this home
Water runs to every stone
These rivers that flow
Binds us all keeps us whole
This country this land
Water runs to every hand
These rivers, these paths
They lead us here, they, bring us back
Oh oh ...

Run out
On the bison plain
Salmon shore
The Arctic range
Forgive
The fault lines there
On faces different people share
Oh oh the water flows across this great divide

Climb up
Where water lies
On Snow Dome top, can see for miles
Look out
Across this place
Under standing, arms embrace
Oh oh the water flows across this great divide
Oh oh the water flows across this great divide

Chorus
This country this home
Water runs to every stone
These rivers that flow
Binds us all keeps us whole
This country this land
Water runs to every hand
These rivers, these paths
They lead us here, they, bring us back
Oh oh ...

1PlayThe Madhouse

Music and lyrics by: Ken Thacker

I'm looking for a weather change, warm wind from the west
I'm Looking for weather vain, a mark to point me home
And I don't know were I'm going
And I don't know were I've been
This wind could take me anywhere
You know exactly what I mean
So don't ask me when I'm going
Ill get to you in time, cause the door is always open
And our friends are all inside.

Chorus
I'm going down... to the madhouse tonight
I'm going down...and every thing seems right
I'm going down... to the madhouse its clear
That the whirlwind of our lives slow down in a glass of beer

Now there's music in the corner, if, any one can hear
And the owners all go crazy, while they're serving up the beer
But its gonna take some song and laughter to get us through this night
Cause we're coming from our jobs, and it isn't always right

Chorus
I'm going down... to the madhouse tonight
I'm going down...and every thing seems right
I'm going down... to the madhouse its clear
That the whirlwind of our lives slow down in a glass of beer

So, Cut your self some slack man, There's time enough to spare
There's always time for laughter, and you not going anywhere
And I know this may sound crazy
But time stands still in here...
Cause the whirlwind of our lives slows down in a glass of beer

Chorus
I'm going down... to the madhouse tonight
I'm going down...and every thing seems right
I'm going down... to the madhouse its clear
That the whirlwind of our lives slow down in a glass of beer

2PlayRollin Seas

Music and lyrics by: Ken Thacker

Out on these western shorelines
Where the mountains meet the sea
In changing tide
And passing weather
Changes come and chances be

We came on out to these distant islands
Fish were running, time stood still
Outside the breakers the sails were flying
With men who's lives ply with the sea

Chorus
And now that you have us upon this raging ocean
Its there we will find our true self far from thee
And all of the things that lye upon these shoulders
Cast them away upon this rolling sea.

On the beachhead the peat is drying
Barleys in the barrel and breads on the stove
The whiskeys strong on the western islands
Warm from the fire and cold from the sea

Now the clouds are clearing, the men are crying
Lets take her out to the northern deeps
Past the breakers and into morning
Keep on going right across the sea
Across the Rollin Sea...

Chorus
And now that you have us upon this raging ocean
Its there we will find our true self far from thee
And all of the things that lye upon these shoulders
Cast them away upon this rolling sea.

The boats lie upon the western shoreline
Fish are few and the nets are dry
But the Spirits, there and its always willing
To make a life, down by the sea
Down by the Rollin Sea....

Chorus
And now that you have us upon this raging ocean
Its there we will find our true self far from thee
And all of the things that lye upon these shoulders
Cast them away upon this rolling sea.

3PlaySmall Boat

Music and lyrics by:Ken Thacker

I'll tell you right now, I love this small boat
But I'm cold and I'm sick in the head
The work has been hard, and the waves do roll
And I'm thinking about what you said
Would you give me a hand with the rigging
Would you give me a hand with the sail
Cause it's you that I'm heading home for to sea
Into the eyes of this Gail

I'm standing alone at the foredeck
I'm laying awake at the wheel
I'm thinking of home I'm so far away
Dreaming about how you feel
Would you give me your legs to steady
Would you give me your legs to stand
I've been craving to be out on the sea
Now I'm praying to God for dry land

Chorus
Rollover sweet girl Rollover to Port
Rollover the starboard side
Rollover sweet girl I'm coming to you
I'm coming to you with the tide

I can't see a thing; I'm counting on luck
But it's into the breech that I'll head
The fish are out there, my hearts at home
but I'm thinking about your warm bed
Would you give me your eyes to see with
Would you give me your eyes for sight
There's a reef on the bottom I'm trying to see
Way out in this bottomless night

Chorus
Rollover sweet girl Rollover to Port
Rollover the starboard side
Rollover sweet girl I'm coming to you
I'm coming to you with the tide

I'm out all alone on this stormy night
I'm working my way till day
There's something I need to tell you
There's something I need to say
Would you give me the moon to hope for
Would you give me the stars to guide
Would you send me your love
It's all that I need
To keep you right here by my side ...

I'll tell you right now, I love this small boat
But I'm cold and I'm sick in the head
The work has been hard, and the waves do roll
And I'm thinking about what you said
Would you give me a hand with the rigging
Would you give me a hand with the sail
Cause its you that I'm heading home for to sea
Into the eye of this Gail

Chorus
Rollover sweet girl Rollover to Port
Rollover the starboard side
Rollover sweet girl I'm coming to you
I'm coming to you with the tide x2

4PlayWhiskey Tasting

Music and lyrics by: B Campbell

Here's a dram of liquid heaven distilled from single malt
Aged in sherry barrels in a dark Scottish vault
It'll conjure up some visions of peat and fog and cold
And then finish smoothly cause it's 18 years old !!

This smoky golden liquid that weaned every Scot
Some say it's a dose of medicine, we say that it's not
An acquired taste that pays rewards to those who persevere
An for those who can't appreciate, there's shitty Yankee beer

Chorus
At the whiskey tasting tonight, the whiskey's tasting good
I've had a few already and I only wish I could...
keep sampling blends and single malts......dram after dram
At the Whiskey tasting tonight at Troy Tebbenham's!!

My Grandad's smiling on me as another dram I test
Filled with peat and smoky tones from the land that he left
Grandson don't be a drunkard – was what he said to me
As we shared a dram of single malt when I was only three.....

Chorus
At the whiskey tasting tonight, the whiskey's tasting good
I've had a few already and I only wish I could...
keep sampling blends and single malts......dram after dram
At the Whiskey tasting tonight at Troy Tebbenham's!!

Now things are getting mellow and I'm really warm inside
As I sample yet another...with tasting notes to guide
If I were drinking beer or rum....hungover I would be
But you don't get hung from drinking good whiskey

Chorus
At the whiskey tasting tonight, the whiskey's tasting good
I've had a few already and I only wish I could...
keep sampling blends and single malts......dram after dram
At the Whiskey tasting tonight at Troy Tebbenham's!!

7PlayGolden Lady

Music and lyrics by: B Campbell

She was the pride of the New York yacht Club
William Harkness owned her all
He took Gunilda to Superior
Early in the fall
Her fine gold scroll work caused many to stop and stare
As steamed across the Great Lakes
Her hull white clean and fair

In Jackfish Bay Harkness stopped her way
To barter for a guide
The cost too high, he wouldn't pay
Her fate, he did decide
With plans to fish for coaster trout
Way up on the Nipigon
They pushed hard toward the fishing grounds
That cold and foggy dawn

Chorus
Golden lady, Lake Superior's got your soul
300 feet of water, at the base of McGarvey Shoal
None will have you and your gold that still gleams
You will have us ....drowning in our dreams

Despite the fog – Harkness ordered
the Captain to "carry on"
Only 5 miles out of Rossport
With daylight coming on
She rammed half of her hull upon the rocky shelf
He wouldn't pay for a second tug
So she sank with all her wealth

Chorus
Golden lady, Lake Superior's got your soul
300 feet of water, at the base of McGarvey Shoal
None will have you and your gold that still gleams
You will have us ....drowning in our dreams

Many have schemed about you
One has died at your golden bow
Still more have dreamed about you
But dreams won't raise you now

Chorus
Golden lady, Lake Superior's got your soul
300 feet of water, at the base of McGarvey Shoal
None will have you and your gold that still gleams
You will have us ....drowning in our dreams

8PlayFollow (Stans Song)

Music and lyrics by: Ken Thacker / Brian Campbell

He's a traveling minstrel on a lonely road
Telling stories the way he roams
He'll take you with him where he wanders
He'll take you with him where he goes

He'll write about the western morning
Farmers up at dawn
Tales of Artic waters, stories of men long gone

In the shadow land between show times
He'll write about the family ties, about people missed
The love gone wrong, the truth behind the lies

Chorus
I will follow where it leads me
I will follow where he roams
Up mountain ridges, wheat filled prairies
Follow, take me home
Up to the Arctic Circle, around the Great lakes rim
I will follow where he leads me
I will follow where he's been

He'll take you out on windswept oceans,
Where heroes and fools make play
He's a storied man about no man,
And every dog will have its day.

He'll fill your head with stories
Make you stop and ponder why,
His still and sadness heals you,
His laughter will make you cry.

Chorus
I will follow where it leads me
I will follow where he roams
Up mountain ridges, wheat filled prairies
Follow, take me home
Up to the Arctic Circle, around the Great lakes rim
I will follow where he leads me
I will follow where he's been

And when he's gone you'll listen
To all the things he's said
His stories will remind you
They'll echo in your head
You'll lie awake at night
With the music that he's done
Cause it's all that's left to teach you
There's all his songs unsung

Chorus
I will follow where it leads me
I will follow where he roams
Up mountain ridges, wheat filled prairies
Follow, take me home
Up to the Arctic Circle, around the Great lakes rim
I will follow where he leads me
I will follow where he's been

9PlayRoad to Kandahar

Music and lyrics by: K Thacker / J Dacey

There's a girl on the corner, with a key in her hand
Switching off the engine on a small sedan.
It'll keep on running, like a heart inside,
Reminds the neighbors that you just can't hide.
Cause there's just no running from the ugly truth,
That nothing is going right,
The sky is grey; there is something wrong,
The cargo planes are coming home tonight.

Chorus
And the mother's child and the father's son
Have traveled oh so far,
But it makes no sense at all to me,
When they die on the road to Kandahar.

There's a moon on the Giant,
And the lake is shining bright.
He'll be leaving tomorrow,
He'll do what's right.
She's the girl on the corner,
He's the boy next door.
He'll be gone in the morning,
He'll be gone for sure.
He's just a young man; he doesn't even know,
The stakes have grown so far.
The chance for peace has grown so thin,
He's off to die in a rich man's war.

Chorus
And the mother's child and the father's son
Have traveled oh so far,
But it makes no sense at all to me,
When they die on the road to Kandahar.

They put a gun on his shoulder,
Put a dove in his hand
He's off to fight in a desert land.
Could've used the training,
Could've used the time,
Got a war to fight,
There's no reason no rhyme.
And there is just one thing that you need to know,
As brutal as it goes.
There's always more young men out there,
Always more, God only knows.

Chorus
And the mother's child and the father's son
Have traveled oh so far,
But it makes no sense at all to me,
When they die on the road to Kandahar.

There's oil in the sand, blood on the spot,
In the desert where he fell.
There's a chill in the air and snow on the rock,
The day the plane came home.
In the heart of town where the people go,
They've gathered all to pray.
They'll say he was a hero,
They'll say what they will say.
But the truth won't come and the lies won't break,
Can't even up the score,
And it makes no sense at all to me,
when they die on the road to Kandahar.

Chorus
And the mother's child and the father's son
Have traveled oh so far,
But it makes no sense at all to me,
When they die on the road to Kandahar.

10PlayNorth Shore

Music and lyrics by: K Thacker / J Dacey

Well the North Shore is a wild shore and lonesome
and the icy winds can chill you to the bone,
Manitou rules the dark water
and a man here is always alone.

Dark water moves this inland ocean
and the ships here they come day they go,
A man can loose his way out on the water,
and the chains pull heavy from below.

Now the lake moves men like the flotsam, it takes them all far from there homes,
A man may loose his way out on the water,
But a woman is always alone.

Stories of the North Shore are spoken,
of the struggles of the men in the mines
Waves roll up unbroken;
they will wash away the tears in time.

Chorus
Oh laker man, Oh laker man, where you gonna go
Oh laker man where you gonna be
Oh laker man, Oh laker man what are you gonna do
When you're far away from home across the sea.

Ice River runs on back to the lake head,
Shorten day's way into night
The sudden rise now into summer
Will chase away the dark with light

But it's a man that breaks the silence in the Boral
Cutting through the trees and then
Calls out to the ships out on the ocean,
he will bring them all home again.

Chorus
Oh laker man, Oh laker man, where you gonna go
Oh laker man where you gonna be
Oh laker man, Oh laker man what are you gonna do
When you're far away from home across the sea.

Well the North Shore is a wild shore and lonesome,
And the icy winds can chill you to the bone,
Manitou rules the dark water
and a man here is always alone,

Chorus
Oh laker man, Oh laker man, where you gonna go
Oh laker man where you gonna be
Oh laker man, Oh laker man what are you gonna do
When you're far away from home across the sea.
